IVEDC Celebrates 20 Years

IMPERIAL — The Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) hosted their 15th annual dinner and meeting at Pioneers Museum Thursday, November 14, to celebrate 20 years of economic development. IVEDC members and guests discussed the past years’ triumphs and the possibilities for the upcoming year.

Guests were invited to a steak dinner, followed by the board of directors report, election of the board of directors and officers, approval of the budget, CEO report, and the award ceremony.

Investor of the Year was awarded to Douglas Dahm from The Dahm Team Real Estate. Volunteer of the Year was presented to Carla Kuhns for her hard work and dedication to the community. Imperial Regional Alliance, Inc. was awarded Partner of the Year. Initiative of the Year was given to Southern Border Broadband Consortium, and Project of the Year was awarded to Valley Premier Storage.


The last award of the evening was the Chairperson’s Award, which was bestowed on County Supervisor and Chairman of the Board Ryan Kelley.

In the last 20 years, more than 30 conferences and expos have been held at IVEDC, including 12 annual Imperial Valley Energy Summits, the five annual Imperial Valley Economic Summits and, this year, the first Imperial County Hemp Summit.

According to the annual report, thousands of jobs have been created, more than 200 businesses and clients have been serviced, millions of dollars have gone into local investments, more than a dozen groundbreakings have occurred, 25 industrial projects are currently in the pipeline, and the development and management of 15 programs and initiatives have occurred in the last 20 years.
