Calexico, CA, October 25, 2018 – Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation attended the groundbreaking ceremony for Mount Signal 2, a solar energy project in Calexico developed by D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI). The groundbreaking ceremony represented yet another successful alternative energy project development in the Imperial Valley. This development will not only strengthen investment in renewable energy in the region, but also create thousands of jobs for the Imperial Valley.

During the opening ceremony, D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments executive Hy Martin presented a check to Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation for the amount of $50,000. “We are thrilled to support the Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation (IVEDC) as they expand economic opportunity in Imperial County and beyond,” said Hy Martin. “Our DESRI team is committed to growing the renewable energy economy in the Imperial Valley and across California, as shown by our significant local investment in the Mount Signal 2 solar project and our recent partnership with IVEDC.” This project would not have been possible without the diligent efforts of IVEDC to aggressively market the regional economy for both domestic and foreign business investment. D.E. Shaw’s investment will further assist IVEDC in its efforts to facilitate economic growth in the Imperial Valley.

Imperial Valley Economic Development Corporation would like to thank D. E. Shaw Renewable Investments for their generous contribution in support of facilitating further success in our regional economic development.
